Hi Ya'll!!
Well here is a formal intro to me.
My names Mistie.
Im a stay at home mom who is also a photographer & an artist.
I have been homeschooling my silly daughter for 2yrs now.
I really enjoy it. I love having the control over what she learns.
I had chosen when I got pregnant wit her that I wanted to homeschool.
I have been watching the sad state of the public schools. Especially in my own state of Oklahoma. Currently Oklahoma is almost dead last in the ranking of education in the united states. This bothers me. It doesnt help our governor has cut so much funding from the school system that the teachers cant even teach. Schools are closing in this state and they cant even afford books.
So that on top of all the horrid bullying and treatment a lot of teachers give their students I chose to homeschool.
Being that I was a single mom when we started I chose to go through Epic Charter School here in Oklahoma. They are a public charter school, which means that basically they keep track of all the requirements for the state, supply me with a learning fund and I have the freedom to school her like I choose. I love Epics system and as long as I can she will be a student with Epic.
I also suffer from an auto immune liver disease that prevents me from working most of the time. Thankfully I have a wonderful fiance who fully supports my decision to homeschool. He's a much for it as I am due to the state of the education system.
Plus we want to make sure she has a fully rounded education & not just what the what the state requires for graduation.
We also school secularly.
I believe in teaching about all cultures and religions. I really try to keep religion out of our schooling.
We have our own faith and honestly children cant make their own decisions on faith until the age of understanding. So by keeping her non religious it will help her choose what she wants to believe later when she understands faith and religion.
So you might see posts about religions on here. But it wont be one sided. It will be as a lesson and learn .. not as a what we believe.
So you might see what is considered new age things on this blog as well.
Ok well I think that is enough babbling about myself for now..
